Sirana SpamCenter :: What's New
Sirana SpamCenter 2.0 is the newest version of Sirana's end-user spam management
solution. When used in conjunction with spam filtering programs like the Exchange
Intelligent Message Filter, SpamCenter provides a complete, user-administered anti-spam
system designed for easy, low-cost deployment and use.
Here are just a few of the new features found in this
release:
- AJAX Support: Most pages in SpamCenter
have AJAX support, which allows postbacks from the browser to the web server to
happen quickly and transparently without any browser "flicker". Users will say this
makes SpamCenter seem faster, more responsive and more like a desktop application.
- Sites:
Sites allow SpamCenter administrators
to partition their SpamCenter environment, allowing different user policies and
administrators for each site. Sites can also have different authentication methods
and sources.
- Enhanced Security Roles: SpamCenter
offers three roles for a variety of user capabilities. One role, the Reviewer, allows
users to maintain other quarantines without having any administrative access to
system settings.
- Customizable My SpamCenter Today pages:
Users can build personalized My SpamCenter Today pages by adding and rearranging
WebParts on a page. Administrators can pre-build shared My SpamCenter Today pages
for their user communities. Administrators can also customize their own My SpamCenter
Admin Today page by adding administrative WebParts.
- SpamCenter Authentication Option:
In addition to Active Directory authentication, administrators can allow users to
authenticate against a local database. This allows administrators to deploy SpamCenter
in locations where access to Active Directory may not be available.
- Site Images: Organizations can brand
the pages that users see and the notification messages with custom logos. These
logos can be associated with sites, allowing high levels of customization.
- Enhanced Reports: SpamCenter's reports
have improved graph rendering that makes more attractive reports. In addition, the
tables have clickable links to help administrators manage their system with little
effort.
- All Mailbox View: Administrators
have a view of all of the mailboxes in their site that allows them to edit mailbox
settings, or view the content of a mailbox's quarantine.
- All Blocked Messages View: Administrators
can view all of the blocked messages for a site, and can sort and group the view
by mailbox or other field.
- Support for other Anti-Spam Engines:
SpamCenter supports multiple anti-spam engines in addition to Microsoft's IMF. SpamCenter
has been tested against Symantec's Brightmail, and can support other engines that
place blocked messages into a directory-based archive. By supporting multiple anti-spam
engines, administrators can provide users with a single interface to manage their
spam quarantines that works across multiple products.
- Cross-browser, cross-platform compatibility:
SpamCenter will work with Internet Explorer, and Firefox on Windows, the Mac
and Linux. Partial support for Safari and other browsers is available.
- ASP.NET 2.0: SpamCenter was re-written
to take advantage of the newest version of Microsoft's ASP.NET library. This allows
SpamCenter to take advantage of all of ASP.NET's new capabilities, like authentication.
