Sirana AppAnalyzer 4.0 is the most significant release since the initial 1.0 release
of AppAnalyzer in 2001. The goals for this release were:
AppAnalyzer Server System Requirements
Several of the AppAnalyzer 3.5 prerequisite software requirements have been removed.
For example, Microsoft Outlook, Collaborative Data Objects (CDO), Decision Support
Objects (DSO), and Pivot Table Services are no longer required.
AppAnalyzer Database Server System Requirements
AppAnalyzer 4.0 has been optimized to work with a single, SQL Server 2005 database.
SQL Server Analysis Services (OLAP) is no longer required.
Exchange Server 2007 Support
Microsoft made significant changes to the data sources from Exchange 2003 to Exchange
2007. AppAnalyzer 4.0 fully supports Exchange Server 2007, including PowerShell
data collection.
Auto-configured Site Logon
You are no longer required to input a specific mailbox for each Exchange site that
AppAnalyzer monitors. AppAnalyzer automatically configures the appropriate site
logon information during installation, and as new sites are discovered.
Alternate Site Logon Credentials
It is now possible to provide different data collection security credentials for
each Exchange site.
WebAdmin Interface Redesign
The AppAnalyzer WebAdmin has been completely redesigned for easier task management
and report interaction.
User Security Roles
AppAnalyzer is now secured via a role-based authorization system that integrates
with your organizations Windows Active Directory. The set of actions that a user
or group of users can perform are controlled by their assignment to specific roles
within AppAnalyzer. Additional levels of security can be implemented on a report
by report basis by leveraging the built-in security of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting
Services.
Additional Report Export Formats
Reports can now be exported in XML, CSV, TIF, PDF, Web Archive, and Excel formats.
Report History
AppAnalyzer now provides a method to automatically create a series of static report
snapshots that shows how data changes over time.
Enhanced Report Delivery Options
Scheduled email reports now have the ability to include time stamped subject information.
More schedule options for days/weeks and output. Reports copied to file shares also
have expanded options for overwriting or incrementing to report directories.
Report Subscription Parameters
Specific report parameters, such as Date Range or Filters, can now be adjusted within
the report scheduling wizard.
Report Customization
All reports are defined using the Microsoft Report Definition Language (RDL) and
can be edited/modified using the Microsoft Report Designer.
SharePoint Portal Integration
You can embed the Reporting Services Web parts in a Microsoft SharePoint Portal
site to easily integrate with a report server deployment.
Expanded Client Access Usage
Client Access reports have been added, as well as enhanced to include OMA, RPC over
HTTP, and ActiveSync usage analysis.
Mailbox Folders
More granular information is now available for size and items of Calendars, Contacts,
Deleted Items, Drafts, Inbox, Journal, Notes, Sent Items and Tasks folders.
Mailbox Quotas
Several reports now include the actual storage quota for each mailbox and whether
store defaults are utilized.
Mailbox Store White Space
Server Storage reports have been added that include disk space, available space,
and database white space.
Content Analysis Saved Searches
Mailbox and Public Folder Content scans can now be reported on by named searches.
Server Exchange Events
New reports that provide summaries of every Exchange related tracking log event.
Enhanced Report Filters
Multiple levels of filters are now supported. For example, a report can be generated
that shows only the users from the "Sales" department in the "North America" OU.
Expanded Directory Attribute Reporting
Any Active Directory attribute (including OU) can be used to group or filter data
within the reports.
Additional Drill-down Support
Additional detail is now exposed within the drill-down of several reports.
New Multi-column and Comparison Reports
Several reports have been added that include more then a single column of data.
Multiple Series Charting
Reports are now capable of displaying more than one series of data within the chart/graph.
SQL Server 2005 Support
AppAnalyzer leverages the native power of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and no longer
requires SQL Server Analysis Services (OLAP).
Database Re-design
The database has been redesigned to optimize storage and improve data loading and
reporting performance.
Faster Log File Processing
